Varroa Check is a tool to monitor varroa mite infestations in honey bee colonies quickly, easily and reliably.

The Varroa Check makes varroa monitoring a simple practice that can be performed by all beekeepers.

Beekeeper collects 200 bees and shake them for 60 seconds in the Varroa Check shaker using the carbon dioxide injector or a solution of alcohol or winter windscreen washer fluid. Mites separate from the bees and fall to the bottom of the transparent bowl. The liquid may be reused for a second-thrid test.
Dispose of the bees if using liquid. – Return the bees to the hive if using the carbon dioxide injector.
